The
Bike
Since its appearance in 2005 Triumph's Daytona
675 middleweight sports bike has drawn acclaim from
both riders and the motorcycling press. The
3-cylinder engine offers the punchy
mid-range of a v-twin with the peak power of an
inline-four. Combined with agile, responsive
handling, and gorgeous styling, the bike was an
instant sales success.
In early 2007 James Holland, gifted race tuning specialist
and owner of JHS Racing, acquired a Triumph 675 that
had previously been campaigned in the
British Supersport
series. While that previous venture had been under-funded, limiting
development of the machine, the bike remained an
interesting proposition.
James was confident that
the Daytona triple had enormous
potential, even though it had been largely
overlooked as a competitive racing powerplant up to
this point. Bringing his considerable experience to
bear on the project he set about developing and
tuning the motor into a devastatingly effective race
engine. In its 2008 spec JHS Racing have
achieved further significant power gains from the
triple without compromising the engine's
reliability.
